Mr. Ottinger holds a Missouri Certified General License and has decades of experience appraising both residential and commercial real estate. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate and Insurance from the University of Missouri, Columbia. After years of experience as a real estate broker and general contractor, he founded Appraisal Research in 1975.
Mr. Ottinger served in the Missouri Legislature for twenty-six years as a State Representative in the St. Louis area. In addition, Mr. Ottinger was a commissioner on the St. Louis Board of Election Commissioners. Besides being a founding member of the St. Louis chapter of the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers, Mr. Ottinger has served as a condemnation commissioner and has testified as an expert witness, including before the Missouri Tax Commission.
Mr. Ottinger graduated from Westminster College in 1992 and worked for the Missouri Attorney General's Office. He has been with Appraisal Research since 1993 and has taken more than 800 classroom hours of residential and commercial real estate appraisal courses. He holds a Missouri Certified General License and specializes in employee relocation work and commercial real estate. He is an associate member of the Appraisal Institute, a member of Worldwide ERC™ and a H.U.D. approved appraiser on the F.H.A. roster.
During his career, Mr. Ottinger has completed over 5,000 appraisal assignments on a wide variety of residential and commercial property types including single-family homes, condominiums, apartments, office buildings, warehouses, industrial properties, retail and vacant land. His experience in client relations and as a licensed real estate agent gives him a solid understanding of the concerns of lenders and their clients.
